The Referee’s Section was developed as an integral part of the English Amateur Billiards Association at its foundation and is recognised as a vital component in the support structure of the Association. The sterling work that the English referees have undertaken at home and abroad is well chronicled and much appreciated by all who have had the benefit of their services. English referees have supported the England International teams in the Republic of Ireland, Northern Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, Thailand, Singapore and Austria. Their efforts are voluntary; their rewards are the goodwill and sincere appreciation that they generate wherever their services are given.
Under the watchful eye of Clive Scott, their section chairman, the referees have developed themselves into a reliable and much respected outfit. In the height of the season when the pressure is on to complete national and international tournaments on schedule the security of knowing that the events are in good hands is comfort to the Association and everyone concerned.
The E.A.B.A. is always on the lookout for suitable recruits for billiards refereeing. The referees have a happy working relationship together, and with the players in their charge; they take great satisfaction from a job well done. It’s said that billiards is in the blood? The love of billiards is as obvious in the referees as it is in the players, just one happy family. If you are interested in making a start in billiards refereeing please contact Clive Scott on the telephone number provided on this website or any recognised billiards referee.
