English Boys’ County Team Championship
The final of this event was played over three one hour games with the
scores aggregated. This obviously favoured the stronger Cleveland
contingent, although Lincolnshire had played well in the Southern
section, beating last year’s winners Northants on their way to qualify
for this final.
All three matches were played simultaneously, and with Gamblin and
Bean winning their matches by 6 and 16 respectively it was left to
Robin Wilson to clinch the match in fine style winning by the massive
margin of 480 points and ending with a break of 84 unfinished thus
winning the title for Cleveland. Wilson’s huge one-hour aggregate of
600 was greater than the total aggregate of the entire Lincolnshire
team!
