CORNWALL NEWS
Cornwall versus Devon
On Sunday 20th October, Cornwall’s billiards and snooker teams took
on Devon in a return of last season’s inaugural fixture. The match was
held at Bells Court Snooker Club, Falmouth courtesy of Paul Williams
Manager of the club. This was the first time Cornwall had played at
this venue since the major refurbishments which had taken place over
the past 12 months, and both the teams enjoyed the new surroundings.
Cornwall’s Ray Vassie, Reg Darton, David Crowle and Peter Lawrence
officiated, with the additional help from two Devon County referees
and a Plymouth Association referee. The match commenced at 1.00pm
and was well contested with Cornwall’s Billiards team achieving a well
earned draw, although the overall result went to Devon.
Cornwall 2½ pts Devon 2½ points.

Centurions
In the Camelford & District Billiards League on the 13th November,
Geoff Lingard recorded a 100 break for Camelford War Memorial
Institute “A” against Camelford Conservative Club.
In a St Germans Billiards League match on Tuesday 10th December,
Keith Olver (Hessenford) completed the perfect game, running to his
points in a game of 150-up at his first visit to the table. As far as
memory goes, it has never happened in a match in the St Germans
League. He was playing against namesake John Olver of Calstock (no
relation) whose only contribution to the match was to make the breakoff
shot.
