Peter Sheehan, playing in front of his Liverpool home crowd,
eliminated Chris Shutt 4-3 in the best of seven 100 up
games. He then beat Ian Williamson 4-0 before losing 4-1 to
Peter Gilchrist.
David Causier accounted for Mukesh Rehani and Michael
Ferreira 4-0, then claimed the major scalp of Geet Sethi 4-1.
Leading 3-1 in the semi-final against Mike Russell, David
eventually lost 4-3.
Seeded into the second round, Robby Foldvari beat Manoj
Kothari 4-1, then Bob Close 4-0. The Aussie lost out 4-2 in the
semi to Peter Gilchrist.
The final was the best of 15 legs. Mike Russell took the two
opening games and Peter equalised. Mike retook the lead 4-2
at the interval. Upon restart, Mike went 5-2 up and games then
went in sequence until the World No. 1 took the £6,000 winners
prize by 8-5. Peter received £3,000 as runner up in a £20,000
prize pool.
