Tasmanian Billiards Championship
The preliminary rounds of the Tasmanian Billiards Championship were
played over 16th and 17th June 2000 at the Lindisfarne RSL Club,
situated in the coastal town of the same name, just North of Hobart. A
total of 16 players competed in four groups to decide the quarter-
finalists. The closing stages were played at the same location on Saturday
24th June with Les Higgins overcoming Bob Wilson 2,049-1,425 in the
six-hour final. The top break in the competition came from Higgins
with 148 unfinished, made in his semi-final victory over Gregg Watt.

Australian Under-15 Billiards Championship
Snookerworld in Sydney was the venue for the Under-15 Championship
on 13th May 2000 which attracted just seven youngsters, including
one girl, Amanda Thorsby. Michael Lupton, who received a bye in the
first round, dominated his next two games to take the title with some
ease, defeating Chris Kovacs in the final. No player made a break above
thirty, the highest being 29 by Lupton.
