The Virtue that Lies in the Swing
(With Apologies to Sir W. S. Gilbert)
In playing at billiards the cue, tra la,
Has greatly to do with the case,
Unless the style of the swing, tra la,
Be just exactly the thing, tra la,
The playing will end in disgrace.
Has greatly to do with the case,
Unless the style of the swing, tra la,
Be just exactly the thing, tra la,
The playing will end in disgrace.
And that’s what I mean
When I say or I sing,
That great is the virtue,
That lies in the swing.
If you otherwise handle your cue, tra la,
The stroke will be foozled, I wean.
Without the proper swing, tra la,
Of the kind of which I sing, tra la,
The stroke can never be clean.
And that’s what I mean
When I say or I sing,
That great is the virtue,
That lies in the swing.
