Juniors Final Day 21st April 2013
Grantham Snooker and Pool Club
An enjoyable days billiards at an excellent venue. The young players were a credit to the game, their families and themselves.
Group A was particularly Strong with the first game setting the standard for the day. George Pragnell v Jonathon Snee was a repeat of last years semi final but this time George had the edge to win by 29 points. Both players showed class and George went on to win the group. Although Jonathon won his next game he was just 10 points away from qualifying as best loser and one of the favourites was eliminated.
Group B gave a repeat of last years under 16 final with Adam Stewart winning this time by a mere 8 points. Both qualified with same Betts being the best overall loser. Chris Coumbe came all the way from Devon to win group C although the leading girl player Hannah Jones gave a good account and won one of her games.
The semi finals saw George Pragnell overwhelm Adam Stewart. Adam was starved of decent openings throughout and George Scored heavily. Sam Betts with the help of a 65 break had a comfortable win over Chris Coumbe but Pragnell was too strong and consistent for him in the final
The 4 qualifier were Jack Easter, Callum Lawler, James Eyrer and Joe Osbourne. The 2 girls in this category Josie Wright and Rochy Woods both played well with Josie winning one of her games and Rochy losing to the eventual champion James Eyre by a mere 10 points.
The semi finals winners were James Eyre and Jack Easter beating Callum Lawlor and Joe Osborne respectively. James too a closely fought final by 18 points.
As expected Hannah Jones retianed her title but both Josie and Rochy are improving. Hannah beat Josie in the final.
